Sporting Nationality
Riders may only represent one national federation at a time, and this is noted by your sporting nationality. Your sporting nationality is based on your citizenship as listed below:
- If you are only a citizen of the United States, you would choose USA as your sporting nationality.
- If you are a citizen of another country in addition to the United States, you may choose either country as your sporting nationality with the following exceptions:
- Riders competing in USA Cycling National Championships in the Elite, Under 23, or Junior 17-18 categories must choose USA as your sporting nationality to be eligible.
- Riders competing in USA Cycling National Championships in the Master or Junior under 16 categories may select either country as your sporting nationality, provided you hold a racing license with USA Cycling.
- If you are a Permanent Residents of the United States, you would choose the country where you currently hold citizenship as your sporting nationality. Permanent Residents are not considered to hold US citizenship, but are eligible to compete in USA Cycling National Championships in the Masters or Junior under 16 categories if you hold a racing license with USA Cycling.
If you previously declared a sporting nationality for a license issued by USA Cycling or another national federation and want to change to another sporting nationality, please submit a ticket to request the change form required to change your sporting nationality. A rider is eligible to change their sporting nationality twice.
